Join us for a delightful day exploring the highlights of Chania, Crete!
Our tour begins as you disembark your cruise ship at Souda Port at 09:00 AM. From there, we journey through the scenic Cretan countryside to our first stop, the magnificent Agia Triada Monastery, arriving around 09:40 AM.
Nestled among ancient olive groves and vineyards, the Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) Monastery is one of Crete’s most iconic religious landmarks. Built in the early 17th century by two brothers from a noble Venetian family who had converted to Orthodoxy, the monastery showcases a stunning blend of Renaissance and traditional Orthodox architecture. Stroll through the peaceful courtyards, admire the elegant stone facades, and explore the richly decorated church interiors featuring beautiful frescoes and icons. A small museum on site displays rare manuscripts and religious artifacts. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and take beautiful photos before we depart at 10:30 AM.
We continue to the historic Venizelos Graves, located on the scenic hill of Prophet Elias. This site is the final resting place of Eleftherios Venizelos and his son Sofoklis Venizelos, two of Greece’s most prominent political figures. As you walk around this peaceful park, you’ll not only discover their significance in Greek history but also enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Chania’s Venetian harbor, the sprawling city, and the shimmering Cretan Sea. It’s a perfect opportunity for breathtaking photography during our 20-minute stop.
At 11:30 AM, we arrive in the enchanting Old Town of Chania, a place where history and beauty come together.
Here, you'll have free time until 2:00 PM to explore one of the most charming and atmospheric towns in the Mediterranean. Wander through a labyrinth of narrow, cobbled streets lined with colorful Venetian mansions, Ottoman-era buildings, vibrant local shops, and bustling open-air markets. Discover hidden courtyards, historic churches, and inviting cafés.
Stroll along the famous Venetian Harbor, admire the 16th-century Firka Fortress, and see the emblematic Egyptian Lighthouse, one of the oldest in the world. You can shop for high-quality local products such as handmade leather goods, jewelry, traditional Cretan knives, herbs, and organic cosmetics. Or simply relax by the sea, enjoying a coffee or a delicious Cretan lunch overlooking the water.
We then return to Souda Port, with arrival scheduled around 2:15 PM, perfectly timed for your cruise ship’s departure.
